Who is Sufyan Yunus?

Bismillah.

Assalamu alaikum.

Who is Sufyan Yunus?

Firstly, it should be noted that Sufyan Yunus is a nom de plume, or pen-name.

With regards to Fiqh, I am an adherent and follower of the Hanafi madhab.

With regards to Tasawwuf, I am primarily a salik on the Shadhili tariqa (along with the Qadiri, Naqshbandi, and Rifa’i turuq). Through my murshid and shaykh, I am in the process of mastering the basics of Islamic Aqeedah and Hanafi Fiqh. And through the help and guidance of my shaykh, continue to gain knowledge in the sciences of Aqeedah, Fiqh, Tasawwuf, Hadith, etc., inshaAllah.

I am also currently a college student studying Psychology and Biology.

To see what the goals of this blog is, please read the first post entitled: “Bismillah”.

  5. Assalamu alaykum Sidi Sufyan Yunus,
In another blog (al Kashif) in reply to a post entitled “Pictures of some of the Awliya in the Maghrib” posted on August 22, 2007, you mentionned that in Morocco there are also In Morocco, the Ghumari Masters who were/are Shadhili Sufi Murshids. Can please informe me more on this matter as well as on any still living presently guiding Shadilli master here in Morocco?
    Jazakoum Allah Khayran
    Fakkir

  6. Bismillah.

Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullah Sidi Fakkir,

The Ghumari Masters are Shadhili Murshids from Morocco. From what I understand, there is only one living brother from the Ghumari Masters, Shaykh Hasan al-Ghumari (may Allah bless him always), who resides in Tangier. I am not sure of any more murshids in al-Maghrib. I am sorry if I was not of any help. InshaAllah I will email you (on the address you provided) with the address of Shaykh Hasan al-Ghumari.

    JazakAllah khayran for your comment

Please forgive me Sidi, but I value my privacy, that is why I used a pseudonym for this blog. InshaAllah, I am going to email you and will let you know which university I attend.

Please forgive me if I seem too weird about it.

  13. As salamu Alaykum sidi Sufiyan

Ma’sha Allah sidi I really enjoy this blog. I just recently took Shaykh Ninowy as my Shaykh and am currently trying to memorize aqeedah tahawiyya. I really want to learn more about the shaykh and his teachings so if you know where i might be able to purchase some of his books that he has written, please let me know. I have never met the Shaykh personally but insha Allah we will meet this weekend because i am hosting the Rawdah Deen Intensive, so I am really excited about that. Again, if you have any info. on where I can purchase books please let me know and keep up the good work insha Allah.

  14. Bismillah,

Wa alaikum assalam wa rahmatullah Sidi!

Mabrook on becoming part of the Tariqa!

Sidi, as for the books written by Sayyidi, there are only three that I know of that are in English: Aqeedah al-Tahawiyyah, Saheefa, and Fiqh al-Akbar. However, the other books the Shaykh has written are in Arabic, and not yet translated, to the best of my knowledge. InshaAllah Ta’ala Sidi, I will email with some information.

InshaAllah, your meeting with the Shaykh this weekend will be a wonderful one!

    May Allah Ta’ala bless you.

  17. Bismillah,

    Wa alaikum assalam,

Sidi, I think you may have confused me with someone else. I am not at all worthy of having the title “Sayyidi”. I’m just a student at a University in the United States. I would have emailed you, but your email address doesn’t seem right.

    Sorry for the confusion. :)

    May Allah bless you.
